For more than a decade, I have had the honor of serving the families of Newport News as your School Board Member-At-Large. In 2014, you placed your trust in me, and I have worked every day to honor that trust by putting students first, supporting our educators, and being a responsible steward of our community’s resources.

During my service on the School Board, Newport News Public Schools has made tremendous progress.
On Time Graduation
On-time graduation has increased from 87% to 97%.

Continuous Investment
We have continued to invest in our teachers, faculty, and staff through annual salary increases, while working toward another increase of at least 3%.

I have proudly participated in the selection of our last two superintendents, helping ensure strong leadership for our school division.

I championed the construction of the new Huntington Middle School, which will open next year and provide students with a state-of-the-art learning environment.
